Case Load in India
It is estimated that the disease affects more than 160,000 or more persons or more worldwide. The occurrence of the disease varies widely by ethnic grouping.
The disease occurs in 1 in 2,500 to 3,500 western Caucasian populations.
Cystic fibrosis is less common in other ethnic groups. For Indians different sample studies have indicated a rate of occurence anywhere between 1/10000 to 1/40000.
